Kids know first.
Kids are the ones who know before anyone else — the bike's too small, the jersey doesn't fit, or a brand-new hobby has taken over the bedroom. used.kiwi/kids teaches them to trade it on, not bin it — safely, with you in control the whole way.
They know before you do
Outgrown, upsized, or onto the next thing — kids feel it first. used.kiwi/kids turns that instinct into a skill: spotting when something's done its job, valuing it fairly, and passing it on to another Kiwi who'll love it. It's decluttering, money sense, and looking after the planet, all in one.
How it works
A parent sets up as the Authorised Person (AP)
You create and control the family account. Nothing happens without you. Kids get a fun profile with a cartoon avatar — never a real photo.
Your child lists their outgrown gear
The bike that's too small, the jersey that no longer fits, the toys they've moved on from. They add photos and a description — guided and kid-friendly.
You approve before anything goes live
Every listing and every message is reviewed by you, the AP. Nothing is visible to the public until you say yes.
A safe handover, and a real reward
You handle the trade and handover. Your child earns tokens and rewards, and learns how value, effort, and fair trading actually work.
Why it's safe
Safety isn't a feature we bolted on — it's built into every part of used.kiwi/kids.
A parent approves everything
Listings and messages are gated behind the Authorised Person. Kids can't publish or chat with strangers on their own.
No real photos of children
Kids choose from a set of friendly cartoon avatars. Their faces are never shown.
No personal info exposed
Real names, addresses, and exact locations are never shown publicly on a child's listing or profile.
Messages route to the parent
Buyers can't message a child directly — all communication flows through you as the AP.
Clean language, filtered
Anything a child types is checked for bad language and personal details before it can be shared.
Community reporting
Anyone can report a concern, and our team reviews it. Safety is everyone's job here.
Why it's a great idea
Real money skills
Pricing, negotiating, and earning teach lessons no classroom can. Tokens and rewards make it stick.
Less landfill, more value
Outgrown gear gets a second life with another Kiwi family instead of ending up in the tip.
Confidence and responsibility
Kids take ownership of their things and feel proud when their effort turns into a reward.
Show them how to trade.
Be the first family to give your child real-world money skills — safely, and with you in control.
